We offer an average of 8 to 10 hours of formal instruction in Japanese language per week (total 32 ~ 40 hours for the 4-week session; depending on field trip scheduling). Keiwa College can also award 2 college credits to those who wish to take the language program as a credit course. The JCLP recommends that applicants have had one year of Japanese language study.

Keiwa College student "buddies", many of whom are training in our Japanese Language Teachersf program, usually help out in the classroom and offer the one-to-one experience with a native speaker. Student buddies model conversations, act as conversation partners, and help with writing and reading activities.
The language classes concentrate on development in all skill areas and are taught by a professional, Japanese-language teacher with teaching assistant "buddies" to help provide individualized instruction. Keiwa's full-time Japanese teacher supervises the program. The schedule provides 2 to 3 hours of instruction in the morning and/or afternoon four days a week.
