Study of German Literature

There are some methods to analyze literary texts.
Why are we moved when we read literature? There must be an answer to this question. In order to understand literature, we analyze the literary mechanisms within each text. Fundamental factors of literature include character description, plot development, and setting. As a result of analyzing the elements above, we can understand the structure of the text.
But we must complement this understanding with the additional study of the historical context in which the text came into existence. It is also important to clarify what the author was thinking about when he or she wrote the text. As a result of such study, we can clearly know why we were moved when reading a literary work.
