第17回国際哲学オリンピック（IPO）の結果について

 　2009年5月22日から26日にかけて、フィンランドのヘルシンキで開催された第17回国際哲学オリンピックに、IPO日本組織委員会は国内予選で金賞を獲得した中山雅一君（創価高校）と津村真衣さん（神戸女学院高等部）の二人を選手として派遣しました。22か国、52人の高校生が外国語で哲学のエッセイを競いましたが、残念ながら日本選手によるメダル獲得はできませんでした。津村さんは11位の好成績でした。入賞者は次の通りです。

　今年はアリストテレスとカントからの引用文、あとは芸術と神をめぐる問題が出ました。中山君と津村さんはカントを選んだそうです。ちなみに出題は次のようなものでした。

• If, then, there is some end of the things we do, which we desire for its own sake (everything else being desired for the sake of this), and if we do not choose everything for the sake of something else (for at that rate the process would go on to infinity, so that our desire would be empty and vain), clearly this must be the good and the chief good.”

• ust a work of art be beautiful in order to be a work of art, or may a work of art be ugly as well? If the latter is possible, why should we take interest in it?
• It’s not just the existence of God, but rather the very coherence of the idea of God, that is problematic.
