Modern European History

My research field is modern German military history, a part of modern European history. Learning about history is understanding our current position, and it is also about having a dialogue with the past from a modern perspective. Using the history of modern Germany as an example, we will learn how we have gradually become bound by military values. Long ago, protest demonstrations against American warships calling at Japanese ports were seen everywhere. Recently, however, there have been many people lining up to tour the interiors of the same American warships for amusement. Comparative consideration of such modern phenomena is also an important theme of what I call military history. It is quite different from the military history that is commonly imagined.
