2017 JCLP Farewell Address

2017. 7. 19.
Kota Yamada
President of Keiwa College

20170719 Farewell Party

Farewell from President Yamada

Congratulations, Dylan, Taylor, Shaylah, Ousman, and Na’Vaughn, on getting your diplomas.to certify finishing JCLP at Keiwa. Did you really enjoy Japanese Culture and Language Program at Keiwa?

How were your home stay programs? Did you enjoy your home stay? That’s good. Did you enjoy rice, rice wine and hot springs? If you go out of Niigata Pref. and eat plain rice there, you will soon notice the difference of the taste of rice. And you would remember that it was rich and tasteful.

Please remember that you have learned Japanese culture and Japanese ways of living and Japanese ways of thinking in a countryside, a rural part of Japan. This is the real face of Japan, Japan unmasked. You will go to big cities like Tokyo soon afterwards, and you will find urbanized Japan, modern and sophisticated another face of Japan and you will notice the different ways of living and different ways of thinking later and you will realize your first impression.

But wherever you may go and whatever you may do in the future, let us try to make peace among the different people, try to be peacemakers among the people and try to be peace makers in the sense of grassroots.

Howard students, thank you for your coming and for your participation in JCLP. I would also like to express my thanks to homestay families, teaching staff and helping student staff, who showed hospitality in various ways. The goal of Keiwa liberal arts education is that you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32) I hope God bless you all and all of your future and I pray for your safe journey back to US. Thank you very much.
