Gaming Culture
Game studies is an interdisciplinary discipline that spans diverse fields such as psychology, medicine, engineering, sociology, and business administration. Digital amusements, known as video games and computer games, are an established industry and have an impact on politics, economics, and culture. I use sociological methods to study the societies formed by video game arcades. Game arcades are the origin of today’s gaming culture, such as “Let’s Play” ─ It is live game playing on broadcast ─ and e-sports, and are also established in relation to various media such as anime, manga, idols, and music. In my research, I take these popular cultures into consideration.
