Modern Japanese History
Modern Japanese History
There are two ways to study history. One way is tracing the roots of the present issue to the past. The other way is through encountering a past that is completely different from the present, to recognize our current state. In any case, historical awareness is closely related to awareness of problems in the present. In my classes, I focus on modern Japanese history, and aim to encourage each student to learn about history with their own awareness of the problem. I have been researching the history of ethnic discrimination and poverty against Koreans in Japan. In the future, I will also research the history of minority discrimination in Japanese society. Let’s think together about what is necessary to realize an equal society without discrimination.
